- RF ClosureFAST™
- Ambulatory Phlebectomy
What vein treatments are available?
In the past, a vein surgery procedure known as “ligation and stripping” was the standard treatment for problem veins. Today, there are many more options, most of them minimally invasive, allowing you a fast recovery and return to normal activities as well as very little if any scarring.
Tampa vein treatment services to help you get rid of varicose veins and spider veins include a range of options. The board-certified experts at Advanced Vein & Vascular Solutions will recommend the best vein treatment plan for your problem veins. And they will conduct your treatment from the first consultation to the last follow-up appointment, ensuring that you have personalized, individual care and attention every step of the way.
An ultrasound examination by highly qualified registered vascular technicians takes place at the beginning of the vein treatment process to discern exactly where the problem veins lie. An entirely non-invasive procedure, it involves the use of ultrasound imaging to take a picture of the veins under the skin in order to find the faulty valve causing the blockage, pooling or reversal of blood flow. At Advanced Vein & Vascular Solutions, duplex ultrasound procedures are used even for cosmetic concerns in order to ensure that no underlying medical problems are overlooked.
RF ClosureFAST is an endovenous procedure in which the physician inserts a catheter into the varicose vein. As radiofrequency (RF) energy reaches the vein walls, the vein seals shut and the body automatically redirects blood flow to healthier veins. As with most of the newer, non-surgical vein treatment techniques, the patient experiences little if any pain and the recovery and resumption of normal activities occurs quickly.
Patients who undergo sclerotherapy, benefit from this treatment for spider veins. In the procedure, one of our board-certified physicians injects a chemical agent into a vein through a tiny needle. The chemical causes the vein to seal shut and be absorbed by the body while blood flow is redirected to healthy veins. Not only is this procedure extremely effective; it is also quick and minimally invasive.
Varicose veins located close to the surface of the skin respond well to ambulatory phlebectomy. First, the physician administers a local anesthetic and then draws veins out with a small hook inserted through a 1-mm incision. If you undergo ambulatory phlebectomy with us, you will be instructed to wear compression stockings for two weeks to facilitate healing.
Vein Surgery (Ligation & Stripping)
Once the only treatment for varicose veins, ligation and stripping surgery is much less common now but is still occasionally the best treatment for large veins. In this surgical vein treatment procedure, the physician makes a small incision near the groin and another below the knee. Then the physician interrupts all blood flow involving the saphenous vein, which is then removed through the incisions.
