Dr. Edward G. Izzo, JR., M.D., FACS
Dr. Edward G. Izzo, Jr., is a highly experienced Tampa vein specialist who is board-certified in General and Vascular Surgery. Dr. Izzo received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and his M.D. from Chicago Medical School. He served as Senior & Chief Resident in Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, after doing both a General Surgical Internship and a Junior Residency there. Dr. Izzo completed a Fellowship Training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa. Dr. Izzo is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of numerous other professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Hillsborough County Medical Association, the Florida Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is married and has four children.
Dr. Mark J. Alkire, M.D., FACS
Dr. Mark J. Alkire is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is licensed in the states of Louisiana and Florida and holds numerous hospital affiliations, including Tampa General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Town and Country Hospital, Memorial Hospital, The Florida Hospital – all in Tampa – as well as Brandon Regional Medical Center and South Bay Hospital. Dr. Alkire received both his bachelor’s degree and his M.D. from Louisiana State University. After completing a General Surgery Internship and a Junior Residency at Louisiana State University Charity and Affiliated Hospitals, Dr. Mark Alkire served as Senior & Chief Resident in Surgery there before completing a Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Florida Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, the Hillsborough County Medical Association, the Manatee County Medical Association and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is father of eight children and is married to a perinatologist.
